One More Find for 2014

I've been trying to get out and detect as often as possible lately in an attempt to get my numbers up for the year.  I know, that's weird. But hey, whatever works right?  I found this rough looking 1941 S Mercury head dime on Christmas day at a vacant lot I've hunted previously.  Until this find all I had dug up were a handful of wheat pennies and a silver pendant.  Stay tuned for a 2014 wrap up post and a link to my year in review video.  Happy hunting!

Two Slope Gold

I finally managed to get out to the beach for a hunt.  It wasn't the optimal time to go as the tide was high and was only starting to head out.  It didn't matter though because I just had to do some hunting.  I sure am glad I did!

Beach Wheat and Curb Strip Silver

Hit a beach that had a newer, three foot cut yesterday; found mostly modern clad however I did come across a 1910 plain wheat cent in good condition.  Afterward I swapped out detectors and scoured a newly torn up curb strip, scoring two more wheat cents and a very circulated 1918 Mercury dime.

Two Hunts: Silver then Gold!

Found two pieces of silver last week at an eroded beach affected by the larger swells caused by Hurricane Norbert. Then, last night I brought my Minelab Sovereign GT down to the beach to casually walk the slopes during low tide.

Recent Keepers

I've been unable to detect much lately though I have managed to locate a few keepers. The 10K and tungsten carbide rings were found in the water.  Everything else came from two early 1900's house lots; an old clock winder, dateless Buffalo nickel, square holed Chinese coin and a few wheat cents.

Surprise! Gold!

I found this pendant on August 7, 2014 in waist deep water during the negative low tide.  There is no stamp, and it had some questionable tarnish, so I doubted it was the real deal.  Well, I just ran it through the gamut of acid tests and it held at 14K!

Short hunt last night at the same yard mentioned in my previous post.  Plucked a few more keepers out of the dirt.

16 Wheats and a Rosie

Managed to get out last night and detect the front yard of a house built in 1946.  There were signals everywhere and most were wheat cents dating from the 1940's and 1950's though there were two dated 1936-S.  I'm glad I was able to locate at least one silver coin; a well worn 1946-S Rosie.

.925 Italy Necklace

I found this chunky silver necklace on the upper slope near where I found the silver ring recently.  It is marked "925 Italy" and weighs a whopping 35.83 grams.  Total hunt time was around 90 minutes with my Minelab Sovereign GT.

Upper Slope Sweet Spot

Today I located an eroded section of beach on the upper slope.  Total hunt time was around two hours, during low tide, with my Minelab Excalibur II.
